Savannah

Traveled to Savannah, Georgia this summer, briefly for my cousin’s wedding, and boy was that an unforgettable 48 hours. The wedding itself was an entire experience, but the beautiful city of Savannah was such a treat! Yes, it was hot and humid as hell, but all of the activities to do, food to eat, and people to meet made it feel so exciting. It was such an enchanting place.

The wedding festivities started as soon as I got to Savannah. In fact, the minute I landed, I was only able to eat and sleep before waking up the next morning already getting ready for the wedding. Savannah has so much to do. I was staying in the main downtown area, so there was a cute cafe on almost every corner, and on the way to each new one that I tried, I would walk around one of the historical squares and parks right across the street from it! Lots of historical figures hangin around Savannah, I’ll say that! It was such a fun, new learning experience, and felt like so much to take in. The buildings and architecture was all so fitting as well, it was giving revolutionary war era, with the most beautiful greenery to surround it all. I will not stop talking about the trees that were there! I loved it all.

The wedding itself was so fun. My cousin Isa and her (now) wife, Katie chose to have both the wedding ceremony and reception at the Mackey House— an older but very rustic and chic turned venue. It was such a gorgeous space (photos to show below). It had so much character, just like Isa and Katie hehe. It was storming that day too, so they had to relocate under a covered space, but man was it still a beautiful wedding. Their dresses, bouquets, and wedding party all took my breath away.

Another inclusion they added to the venue was space for Ian, which made the wedding so much more meaningful. He was there with us the whole time, and I’m still convinced that the pouring rain was his way of giving Isa his blessing through tears of joy. There really was so much joy that day, it was the perfect day.

The reception that followed was also a hoot. All of the Rustia family had owned that dance floor! It lasted until late that night, and the closing of the event was all of us guests lined up holding these fairy-like wands that lit up the walkway for Isa and Katie to happily walk through as newlyweds.

I think I partied too hard, because the day following was a tough one, not only for me, but everyone else. LOL. Not to mention, most of the family had their departing flights that day, so it was a long day of traveling ahead for everyone, but also a long day of headache and body soreness. All of it, without a doubt, 100% worth it.

The one other free day I had in Savannah, I enjoyed walking along River Street and stopping in all the stores, visiting all of Forsyth Park, walking along the soft-sanded beach and stepping in the surprisingly warm Atlantic, checking out the famous ghost tours, and trying out all the cuisine! For food recs, I will upload my personal faves on the Foodie Hub!

All in all, the trip was short, but it was definitely sweet! It was nice meeting you Savannah!
